MY APPROACH
My counselling work is founded on the person - centred principles of unconditional acceptance, congruence and empathy alongside an integrative approach that incorporates Psychodynamic understandings and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques. We may also use symbolic and creative ways to explore thoughts and experiences. However, every client is different and it is this uniqueness that guides the work we do together.
Fundamental to my work is the provision of a compassionate and confidential therapeutic relationship that is unconditionally accepting and non - judgemental. Counselling is not about giving advice; it is about the empowerment of the client irrespective of age or situation and supporting the client in the exploration of his or her difficulties to be able to adapt or to move on in life. I endeavour always to work in a way that is appropriate to the maturity and understanding of the client, particularly with young people and children.
